An ode to love

I see you lying there and I want to snuggle up into your arms
I want to nestle into those soft contours and feel the warmth of your body
I want to hold you close, not tight, just to keep you near by
I want to fall in love with you all over again

I see you lying there and looking at the clear blue sky
And I wonder whether there is any worry in the world that could bother you
And yet, I hesitate to tell you of my love
For you are to precious to the world to be shackled by a poor, lonesome dreamer.

I see you lying there and the smile on your face is so sweet, so content
I think you must be talking to angels who pass us by,
I can’t wait to place my head on your shoulders, I want that close up view and I won’t give up that right

I see you lying there one with nature and one with the world,
I want in, yes so badly I do,
Such love that is carefree, genuine and open, I have not met and I am afraid,
That some other gold-digger may find you and take you away

But this poor fool must not, cannot, for to be part of something beautiful, you must be worthy
And so darling, my cravings, my longing and my love for you shall be one secret, between me and my maker
And with a heavy heart I shall retire to my resting place and shall not burden you with this,
For this moment’s more important, than this fool's hopeless dream.
